Château Moulin de la Rose

AOC Saint-Julien

France

Chateau Moulin de la Rose is known as the "Lilliputian of Saint Julien" due to its small 5 hectare vineyard in comparison to the grand cru classes nearby.

It has a fascinating history, half of its name coming from the former presence of a mill and the other from a knight named Chevalier Larose who owned the neighbouring Chateau Gruaud Larose in the 18th century.

However, it was only acquired by Guy Delon in 1971 but now his children Jean-François and Guylene manage it as Technical and Administrative directors respectively.

The terroir is homogenous with some of the best gravelly soil in Saint Julien that produces generous tannic wines yet still retain all the finesse and smoothness expected from Saint Julien's great wines!

The incredible Jean François Delon understands that respecting the terroir is fundamental. His vines are tenderly looked after throughout the year with no detail left to chance – soil ploughed and vine density kept high at 9,000 vines per hectare.

Not only this, but his team of experienced seasonal workers meticulously sort the grapes in the vineyard before being handpicked.

All operations carried out on the terrain are done so with respect for the environment, as he strives to produce wine of unparalleled quality from one of France’s most renowned appellations.

When you taste a bottle of Jean François Delon’s creation, you can be sure it has been crafted with love and care!
