Elaboration

This is an outstanding red wine made primarily from 95% Malbec grapes and 5% Merlot grapes. It originates from the Cahors appellation, which is renowned for producing exceptional wines. The grapes for this wine are sourced from the 2nd and 3rd terraces of Cahors, as well as the limestone plateau.

When it comes to the winemaking process, around 80% of the wine is matured in vats for a period of 16 to 18 months. This allows the flavors to develop and the wine to achieve its desired characteristics. The remaining portion of the wine is aged in two-wine barrels, which adds structure and complexity to the final product. This aging process ensures that this Cahors wine is suitable for further aging.

It's worth mentioning that the vineyard has been certified organic since 2012. This means that the grapes are cultivated using environmentally friendly methods, without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.

In summary, this red wine made predominantly from Malbec grapes, along with a touch of Merlot, is truly remarkable. Its origin in the Cahors appellation, the careful maturation process, and the organic certification of the vineyard all contribute to its exceptional quality.

Taster's notes

Cèdre Héritage is the perfect definition of a gourmet wine. With its aromas of black fruits and spices, this southwestern wine is ideal to accompany the small, warm moments of everyday life or to open with an unexpected visit. It has a red dark rubi color, which hides an intense and flattering nose, full of cassis, violet and spice. The mouth is tense and marked by a right acidity. We recommend pairing it with red meats, game meats and cheeses. We suggest a serving temperature of 16ºC

The Winery

Since 1973, the Verhaeghe family has managed their own vineyard. Self-taught, Charles and Marie Thérèse Verhaeghe carried out their first bottling. In 1987, Charles suffered from Parkinson´s disease, and their two sons returned to take care of the winery. In fifteen years, together they have raised Château du Cèdre to the top of the Cahors appellation. Supported by an excellent team, they are still pioneers today.
