Pago E 2015 is a Spanish Red Wine from Pago Aylés. The name E of Aylés is a reference to E as of Ermita, which means hermitage in Spanish.

Come harvest time, grapes are picked at night to ensure they are at their coolest. Thanks to the size and layout of Pago Ayles, grapes arrive at the bodega (winery) within 10 minutes of being harvested and are in optimum condition. The bodega is constructed in an Aragónese-style with Mudéjar (Islamic) influences. It is fitted out with modern winemaking equipment, although a minimal-intervention approach is employed. The Spanish red wine has aged 10 months in French oak barrels.Pago Aylés was established in 2011, and it is the first Vino de Pago recognized in Aragón and the first Pago young wine in Spain. The Pago has 46 has in Mezalocha (Zaragoza).

Taster's notes

The Spanish red wine has a dark reddish-purple colour with cherry red towards the edge of the glass. Cherry, blackberry, smoke, and rosemary on the nose, a bit of anise and mineral earth. It hovers in between medium and full-bodied. Soft and elegant tannins, with crisp acidity that keep the mouth fresh. Good length on the finish. This Spanish red wine pairs perfectly with red meats and cheese. Best served at temperatures between 14ºC -16ºC.

The Winery

Finca Aylés is located in the northeast of Spain, near the city of Zaragoza, halfway between Madrid and Barcelona. The winemaking project of the Ramón Reula family began in the 1980s and culminated with the reunification of several properties that had belonged to the Finca Aylés since the Middle Ages. At that time it became one of the largest private historical estates in Aragon, with more than 3,200 hectares of land and valuable ecological and scenic conditions. In 2010, the winery was awarded "Vinos de Pago", the highest level of quality that a Spanish winery can achieve.
