Two great Spanish reds in an excellent wine pack. The two Marqués de Griñón reds are an ideal gift for the wine connoisseur or a great choice for a premium wine tasting.
Marques de Griñon Syrah 2016 Marques de Griñon Emeritus 2013
Marques de Griñon Syrah 2016 is a Spanish red wine from Dominio de Valdepusa. Marqués de Grión Syrah is made from the first Syrah vineyard established in Spain (in 1991). A superb wine matured in new and semi-new French oak barrels from "Allier" for 12-15 months in a heated aging warehouse.
Marques de Griñon MDG Emeritus 2013 is a Spanish red wine from Dominio de Valdepusa. Carlos Falcó, Michel Rolland, and Julio Mourelle built the first Emeritus in 1997, and it hit the market at the end of 2000. This wine is currently created from grapes of the old Valdepusa vineyards: Cabernet Sauvignon (planted in 1974) and Petit Verdot (1992), with modest amounts of Syrah (1991) and Graciano (2000). The large, nuanced, and warm profile of this magnificent red is defined by the nature of the Toledo terroir — the Malpica grapes are in the area with the most sunlight on the peninsula.
Marques de Griñon Syrah 2016 has an intense apricot colour, extremely well covered with layers, indicating a long-lived wine. On the nose, it has rich scents that cleverly combine ripe fruit with spicy, balsamic, and floral (violet) characteristics. On the palate, it is robust, well-balanced, and delectable, with silky acidity and an abundance of ripe tannins that provide a meaty and velvety mid-palate.
Marques de Griñon MDG Emeritus 2013 has a cherry colour with violet reflections. High layer intensity and a pleasing appearance. On the nose, it is a wonderful blend of the three varietals, with the addition of their age. It has high aromatic strength and complexity, with precise black and red fruit scents that blend perfectly with notes of chocolate and spices (tertiary smells), owing to its age in the finest oak barrels. It is very tempting in the mouth, clean, round, elegant, and with a beautiful tasting force. Tannins that are well-balanced have simply enhanced this wonderful experience. We recommend matching the wine with a variety of meat meals. We recommend a service temperature of 16ºC.
