On the hot plains of Baixo Alentejo, a few kilometres from the city of Beja, sits one of the oldest wine estates in the region — 1,400 hectares of landscape so exuberant, so rich in plant diversity, river basins and natural oases, that the winery at its centre feels less like a production facility and more like a place of worship. Herdade da Mingorra has been farmed for decades by Henrique Uva, who tended its vineyards with the patience of someone who always knew what they were capable of — and in 2004 finally made his dream concrete, launching his own independent project under the name Henrique Uva/Herdade da Mingorra. The Mingorra Colheita 2020 is built from Verdelho and Alvarinho — two varieties that bring casual elegance and genuine aromatic complexity in equal measure. Tropical fruit, white flowers and a light, precise minerality converge in a white wine of pale yellow colour, good volume and the kind of balanced freshness that makes every sip feel like a considered reward. A perfect example of Portuguese winemaking, at a price that makes it all the more extraordinary.

Winemaker's Notes

Pale yellow in the glass — clean, luminous and immediately inviting. On the nose, intense tropical fruit opens with natural generosity, lifted by floral notes and a light minerality that runs through the wine like a quiet, clarifying thread. The combination of Verdelho and Alvarinho gives the aromatic portrait a complexity and layered interest that belies the wine's approachable character — casual in style, sophisticated in substance. On the palate, good volume and beautifully balanced freshness deliver exactly what the nose promises — a white wine of real presence, clean structure and a finish that is fragrant, persistent and quietly satisfying. The wine the winemaker always believed this land could produce. Best enjoyed with seafood and fish dishes. Serve at 10°C.

About the Winery

Herdade da Mingorra is one of the oldest wine estates in Baixo Alentejo — 1,400 hectares of ancient plains surrounding a winery that Henrique Uva has described as a true place of worship, where modernity and functionality live alongside indelible traditional techniques. Uva farmed these vineyards for years before achieving his dream in 2004: launching his own independent project and giving a name to what the land had always deserved.
