Elaboration
Fetească Albă — White Maiden — is one of Romania's oldest and most culturally significant native white grape varieties, with roots in the country's winemaking history that stretch back centuries before the international varieties arrived to dominate the conversation. On the Pietroasele hills of Dealurile Munteniei — a sub-zone of genuine mineral distinction, where complex soils bring elegance and a quiet, clarifying precision to the varieties grown on them — it produces white wines of floral freshness, fruity vivacity and the characteristic dew-fresh grape-vine scent that no other variety in the world replicates. Basilescu Winery's Eclipse Fetească Albă is the monovarietal expression of that character — created within the Eclipse collection's philosophy of discovering a new path to the jubilation of taste through unadulterated varieties and the unmediated whisper of the terroir. Dry, fresh and balanced, with a vividness and eloquence that the winemaker has always understood as the essential character of this variety when the terroir is right and the intention is honest. A Romanian white of genuine cultural identity and everyday pleasure — and one of the most personal and authentic discoveries in the entire Dis&Dis collection.
Winemaker's Notes
Clean and bright in the glass — the fresh, pale colour of a dry Fetească Albă made from one of Romania's most ancient and characterful native varieties, grown on the mineral-shaped Pietroasele hills of Dealurile Munteniei. On the nose, floral and fruity with the natural freshness and distinctive dew-fresh grape-vine scent that defines Fetească Albă at its most vivid and authentic — an aromatic portrait of genuine Romanian character that announces itself with quiet confidence and holds the attention with complete ease. On the palate, fresh and balanced — light, lively and eloquent, with the natural acidity and mineral precision of Pietroasele terroir carrying the wine through to a clean and satisfying finish of real varietal character. A white wine that tastes unmistakably of where it comes from and invites every curious glass to discover more. Best enjoyed with chicken, Chinese food, seafood and snacks. Serve between 8 and 10°C.
