Finca La Emperatriz Gran Vino Tinto 2016 has a deep ruby colour. On the nose, there's a lot of spice (black pepper, cumin, and even a sweet hint of cinnamon), which contrasts with the fruit's sobriety and some faint meaty notes that provide character. On the palate, it is a savoury wine with strong tannins and tension. A naked, pure, and direct expression of the estate's terroir, with the characteristics of an age-worthy red wine. This wine goes well with a variety of foods. A fantastic match for lamb and beef, as well as rich Spanish cuisine and barbecues. Excellent with pig, chorizo, Iberico ham, and aged cheeses like manchego, gouda, and mature cheddar.
