Elaboration

Produced in the Rioja appellation of Spain, this 100% Viura variety is perfect for those who enjoy a complex and full- bodied white wine. The grapes themselves are sourced from 60 year old vines, harvested in the perfect condition at just the right time.

To ensure that our refreshing, floral and citrusy Pigeage 2020 White Wine is of the best possible quality, the wine has been fermented to 16-18ºC and macerated it with the skins for 3-4 weeks before aging it in a carefully crafted blend of 85% French and 15% American oak barrels. This process is thoughtfully planned to accentuate the complexity and full-bodied vibrancy of the wine. To finish it off, the wine is then aged for a total of 12 months, with 33% new barrels, 33% one year old, and 33% two years old.

About the Winery

Altos de Rioja Viticultores y Bodegueros is the result of the friendship and collaboration between three experienced winemakers and winegrowers. With a shared passion for crafting high-quality wines using traditional methods while prioritizing environmental sustainability, Altos de Rioja selects grapes from vineyards in the upper Rioja Alavesa. The team behind Altos de Rioja consists of Jean Marc Sauboua, a seasoned winemaker from Bordeaux, France, with extensive winemaking expertise across various countries. Roberto San Ildefonso, who began his journey in the world of wine in Rioja Alavesa in the early 1980s and later pursued a winemaking project manifested in Bodegas Sobreño in D.O. Toro. Bienvenido Muñoz, born into a winemaking family, has continued and transformed the legacy of Bodegas Muñoz in La Mancha, which began its operations in 1940. These distinguished winemakers have been recognized and awarded by both national and international critics for their exceptional craftsmanship.
