Elaboration

Sierra Cantabria has been farming the vineyards of San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida since 1870 — five generations of a Rioja Alta family whose commitment to quality, tradition and environmental responsibility has earned them national and international recognition across every wine in their range, from the most celebrated barrel-aged whites and reds to this rosé, which is made with the same uncompromising attention that a 150-year legacy demands. Tempranillo for structure and red fruit depth, Garnacha for aromatic generosity and warmth, Viura for freshness and floral lift — all three hand-harvested with a double selection in both vineyard and winery, macerated for four days to extract the precise colour and aromatic intensity that gives this wine its clean, medium-high fruit profile, and fermented at 16°C using native yeasts selected from Sierra Cantabria's own vineyards. Those native yeasts are not a detail — they are the signature of a place, carrying the specific aromatic character of two of Rioja Alta's most prestigious villages into every bottle. A rosé made by people who have never once cut a corner in a century and a half of winemaking.

Winemaker's Notes

Salmon pink in the glass — clean, subdued and carrying the delicate, precise colour of a rosé made from three complementary varieties macerated with complete control. On the nose, medium-high intensity and immediately appealing: strawberry and raspberry with blackberry and the sweet, gentle aniseed note that makes this wine's aromatic profile entirely its own. On the palate, very cool and light — enveloping, balanced and tasty, with fruity and acidic sensations leading to a long and persistent finish that the mountain-influenced freshness of Rioja Alta always delivers to wines made with genuine care. Best enjoyed with salads, pasta, rice, fish and seafood. Serve at 10°C.
