Most Rioja comes from the warmer, more celebrated southern reaches of the appellation. Bodegas Tarón farms the north — the frontier where DOCa Rioja meets the Obarenes Mountains and the cooler altitude gives Tempranillo a freshness and mineral precision that the plains below rarely match. With over 700 hectares of vineyards across four small villages — Cuzcurrita de Río Tirón, Sajazarra, Tirgo and Villaseca — and an average vine age of more than 50 years, Tarón has built one of the appellation's most quietly impressive estates on a philosophy as simple as it is demanding: select grapes with care, respect the character of the place, and make wine that is genuinely friendly and easy-going without sacrificing the structure and persistence that make it worth returning to. The 30-year-old Tempranillo vines used for this wine are the clearest expression of that philosophy — mature enough to give concentration and depth, young enough to deliver the vivid, immediate fruit that makes every glass feel like the right one for the moment.
