The Thienpont family arrived in Bordeaux five generations ago and never left — rooting themselves in Pomerol with a depth and conviction that produced, among other things, Le Pin and Vieux Château Certan, two of the most celebrated and sought-after estates on the right bank of the Gironde. In Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, the family owns and farms several properties — Château Puygueraud, Château Robin, l'Hêtre and others — bringing to this less celebrated but genuinely characterful appellation the same generational knowledge, the same respect for terroir and the same instinct for balance that made their Pomerol estates legendary. La Marotte is the most accessible expression of that inheritance: a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc from Castillon's clay and limestone soils, vinified for the harmony, roundness and fruit-driven elegance that the right-bank Bordeaux tradition has always championed. Cherry and blackberry on the nose, spice and tobacco threading through with quiet complexity, and a fleshy, velvety palate with the persistent, refined finish that five generations of Bordeaux expertise makes look entirely effortless.
