Enrique Forner arrived in Rioja in 1970 with something the appellation had rarely encountered: the winemaking standards of Bordeaux, where he had owned two châteaux and spent years understanding what obsessive quality focus actually produces. The winery he founded — Marqués de Cáceres, Unión Vitivinícola — was built as an alliance between an entrepreneurial family and the finest terroirs of Rioja Alta, with a business model focused exclusively on quality at a time when volume was the industry's dominant concern. That founding obsession has been carried through to Cristina Forner, the third generation, who continues it today with the same conviction and the same standard. The Crianza is the most accessible and most immediate expression of that legacy: Tempranillo for structure and red fruit depth, Garnacha for warmth and generosity, Graciano for aromatic freshness and structural tension — aged 12 months in French and American oak into a wine of complete Rioja character and the reliable, generous pleasure that over fifty years of consistent winemaking excellence makes look entirely effortless.
