Cinsault is the quiet achiever of the southern French red wine tradition — a variety that contributes its floral freshness and light, elegant tannins to the great blends of Languedoc and Provence without ever quite getting the recognition it deserves as a monovarietal wine of genuine character and distinction. At Domaine Le Clos Rivieral, Olivier and Célia Bellet have built their 8-hectare family estate in the village of Loiras du Bosc on the conviction that Cinsault, grown organically on small terraces at 250 metres in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation, is worth exactly that recognition. Eighty percent Cinsault with 10% Grenache and 10% Carignan — hand-harvested, traditionally fermented for 14 days and aged eight months on fine lees in tank — produces a wine of genuine finesse, floral delicacy and the refreshing, dynamic finish that makes Lou Cinsault one of the most original and most immediately pleasurable organic reds in the Dis&Dis collection.
