Alentejo has been wine country for millennia — a vast, sun-drenched landscape where the cultivation of vines has always been one of the most fundamental links between its communities, woven into the fabric of everyday life alongside olive oil, bread and the spirit of mutual aid that defines the region's character. Adega de Redondo is one of the Alentejo's most established producers, and Maré Viva Reserva is the expression of that heritage at its most considered and internationally recognised. The blend of Fernão Pires, Arinto and Verdelho is vinified with a split approach that honours the individual character of each variety: Fernão Pires and Arinto are fermented in stainless steel at a precisely controlled 17°C to preserve their aromatic freshness and structural acidity, while Verdelho ferments in new French oak barrels — building the spicy complexity, creamy texture and depth that give the Reserva its distinctive profile and aging potential of 2-3 years. The result was recognised internationally in 2020 with Gold at the CWSA China Wine & Spirits Awards, Silver at the London Wine Competition, Silver with 88 points at the Sommeliers Choice Awards USA, Silver with 88 points at USA Wine Ratings and Silver at the CWC China Wine Competition. Five awards across four countries in a single year — the international wine community confirming what the glass makes immediately clear.

Winemaker's Notes

Citrine in the glass — clear, luminous and elegant, immediately communicating the careful vinification and the balance of stainless steel freshness and new French oak complexity that define Maré Viva Reserva's distinctive character. On the nose, elegant and intense from the first moment: white fruit opens with natural generosity and aromatic precision, complemented by spicy notes from the oak-fermented Verdelho that add warmth and a layered complexity without ever competing with the fruit's quiet authority. On the palate, creamy and satisfying — a mouth-feel of genuine presence and refinement, with a long and balanced finish that carries the wine's distinctive profile through to a conclusion of real elegance and persistence. A white wine that rewards a considered occasion and a good glass in equal measure. Best enjoyed with fish. Serve between 8 and 10°C.
