The vineyards of Altos de Torona overlook the Miño River from slopes where the Atlantic Ocean's influence is felt in every dimension of the wine — the freshness, the salinity, the mineral precision and the marked typicity that define Rías Baixas Albariño at its most characteristic and authentic. This is not an ordinary vineyard setting. The Altos de Torona estate sits within a protected natural habitat of extraordinary biodiversity — more than 91 species of flora and 71 species of fauna coexist under an active conservation plan that ensures the landscape giving birth to these vines remains exactly as nature intended it. The result is an Albariño of genuine Atlantic character: straw yellow with greenish hues, aromas of reineta apple, citrus and apricot with toasted notes from lees aging adding a subtle complexity, and a palate of volume, unctuosity and salinity with the restrained acidity and subtle finish that 90 Guía Peñín points confirm as exceptional. The purest winemaking tradition of Rías Baixas combined with modern technology — and a terroir that has been protected with care for long enough to give back everything it has been given.

Winemaker's Notes

Straw yellow with greenish hues — clean, bright and immediately communicating the Atlantic freshness and lees-derived complexity of a 100% Albariño grown on the slopes above the Miño River in one of Rías Baixas's most distinctive and carefully preserved natural settings. On the nose, reineta apple opens with clean, cool-climate precision, followed by citrus and apricot adding warmth and natural generosity, while toasted notes from lees aging provide a subtle secondary dimension that adds interest and aromatic depth without pulling the wine away from its essential Atlantic freshness. On the palate, voluminous and unctuous — saline and mineral, with a restrained acidity that keeps the wine's considerable presence balanced and a subtle, persistent finish that carries the character of the Miño River slopes all the way to its conclusion. A Rías Baixas Albariño of genuine typicity and rewarding complexity. Best enjoyed with appetisers, seafood pasta, lightly cured cheeses and hake. Serve between 7 and 10°C.
