Elaboration

Côtes du Rhône Les Abeilles 2019 is a classic GSM blend — Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre — sourced from vineyards around the prestigious communes of Cairanne and Rasteau in the northern Vaucluse, two of the Southern Rhône's most celebrated terroirs. The grapes are fully destemmed before vinification to maximise fruit expression and aromatic purity. Following fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels to develop additional complexity and depth while preserving the vibrant Mediterranean character of the blend. The result is a wine that beautifully captures the warmth, generosity and spice of the Côtes du Rhône at its finest.

Winemaker's Notes

Bright ruby red. On the nose, generous and inviting aromas of ripe red fruits — cherries, raspberries and red plums — with warm Southern Rhône character. On the palate, well-balanced and structured with a pleasant interplay of ripe fruit and spice, medium-full body and a smooth, persistent finish. A wine of genuine complexity and finesse. Best paired with white meats, Mediterranean dishes and sauces. Serve at 16°C.

About the Winery

Jean-Luc Colombo's dream of becoming a winegrower became a reality in the early 1980s when he acquired his first parcel of land, a granite hillside planted with old Syrah vines overlooking the village of Cornas. In 1984, he and his wife Anne founded the "Centre Œnologique des Côtes du Rhône" in Cornas, from which Jean-Luc Colombo, as an oenologist, puts his experience at the service of the estates of the Rhône Valley and Provence and advises them. Their love of wine is naturally passed on to their daughter Laure, the second generation, with whom they share a desire to give the best of their terroirs. Having become a key vineyard in the Rhone Valley, the family trio continues its daily challenge of promoting the terroir, and beyond promoting their own estate, it is as ambassadors for the appellation that they are making their mark.
