GG Organic 2019 is a wine that could only come from one specific place — and that specificity is everything. Terra Remota's 54-hectare estate sits in the spurs of the Albera Massif in the Alt Empordà, Girona, in the extreme northeast corner of the Iberian Peninsula where the final ridges of the Pyrenees descend toward the Mediterranean coast. The soils here are granitic Albero — light-coloured, cool, infertile and exceptionally well-drained, naturally balancing pH and acidity in a way that no winemaking intervention could replicate. Terra Remota achieved organic certification in September 2012 and has conducted every viticultural and vinification operation to that standard ever since — hand-harvesting in 10-kilogram boxes, selecting parcels and varieties with meticulous care, and frequently vinifying grapes from the same variety and the same parcel individually to preserve the full, unmediated character of each specific piece of Albera terroir. GG — Red Garnacha — is the most direct and complete expression of that philosophy: a wine that asks nothing of the winemaker except the confidence to get out of the way and let the granite and the grape do what they have always done here, in the place where the Pyrenees end and the sea begins.
