Winemaker's Notes

The powerful 23 Barrels Touriga Nacional Syrah Herdade dos Grous has a red-purple color. Once aerated, this red wine reveals a high viscosity on the edge of the glass. The bouquet of this Alentejo red wine seduces with shades of blackcurrant, blueberry and blackberry. If we follow the bouquet further, the forest floor and the stone warmed by the sun stand out. On the palate it is aromatic, fruity and balanced. This fleshy and dense red wine is full-bodied and has several layers on the palate. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the slate-dominated soils. We recommend pairing this wine with lamb or veal. We suggest a serving temperature between 15 and 18ºC.

'Herdade dos Grous' (estate of the cranes) is an exquisite country estate that offers tranquility and unspoiled nature on more than 2718 acres. The work of oenologist Luis Duarte on their vineyards is more than just a passion. The establishment of the estate and the cultivation of the vines (1987), as well as the design of a state-of-the-art wine cellar (built in 2005) are all based on the latest findings in high-end viticulture. ’Herdade dos Grous’ represents the current pioneering spirit of Portugal’s wine-growing business like no other estate.
