Mestizaje Blanco Organic 2019 is a Spanish white wine from DOP El Terrerazo which received the Vino de Pago certification in 2010. Mustiguillo winery created the wine. Merseguera (60%) is an indigenous variety, followed by Viognier (35%), and Malvasia (5%).

Mestizaje Blanco is made with grapes from Finca Calvestra, which is owned by this winery. The 87-acre vineyards are cultivated using organic viticulture with glass and trellis and are located at more than 900 meters above sea level. The vineyards have been planted in calcareous and loamy soils since 1999. Harvesting is done manually in 15 kg boxes to avoid breaking the grains. They go through a sorting table here, just like in the cellar, before the stems are cut and lightly crushed. Mestizaje Blanco is then chilled for 4 to 8 hours at a constant temperature of 6 °. Between the 10th and 16th days, native yeasts are used to finish the fermentation.

Mestizaje Blanco is then aged for about 8 months in a stainless-steel container on yeast.

Winemaker's Notes

Mestizaje Blanco Organic 2019 is a Spanish white wine. The aromas of apricots, tropical fruits, and honey are immediately noticeable in Viognier, whereas in Merseguera, the basic shades of white peach, fragrant flowers, and citrus hints are filtered. The close balance between Viognier, Malvasia and Merseguera is strong, and the wine has a fresh, fruity, and floral attack, as well as a medium greasy taste that is kept in check by acidity. Mestizaje is truly unique, displaying its distinct personality in a wine that is pleasant, crunchy, and eminently friendly. It is perfectly enjoyed with fish and is best served at a temperature of 10ºC.
