Elaboration
Pago A 2018 is a Spanish red wine from Pago Aylés. The name of this wine is a reference to the primitive _x001A_Aldeya_x001A_ which means village in Spanish - those dates back to the twelfth century. The vineyard site has a long history of winemaking. The first documented evidence of vine cultivation dates back to the 12th Century, on land gifted to monks by King Alfonso II after Catholic forces retook the region from the Islamic Moors. The vineyard remained in the hands of the church for five centuries and flourished. The Justice of Aragon, a judicial officer, whose main roles were to interpret and defend the law and mediate in conflicts between the monarch and the nobles, then became the custodian of the vineyard and was the first owner outside the clergy.During harvest time, grapes are picked at night to ensure that they are at their coolest. Thanks to the size and layout of Pago Aylés, grapes arrive at the bodega (winery) within 10 minutes of being harvested and are in optimum condition. The bodega is constructed in an Aragónese-style with Mudéjar (Islamic) influences. It is fitted out with modern winemaking equipment, although a minimal-intervention approach is employed. This Spanish red wine has an age of 3 months in French oak barrels. Pago Aylés was established in 2011, and it is the first Vino de Pago recognized in Aragón and the first Pago young wine in Spain. The Pago has 46 hectares in Mezalocha (Zaragoza).

The Winery
Finca Aylés is located in the northeast of Spain, near the city of Zaragoza, halfway between Madrid and Barcelona. The winemaking project of the Ramón Reula family began in the 1980s and culminated with the reunification of several properties that had belonged to the Finca Aylés since the Middle Ages. At that time it became one of the largest private historical estates in Aragon, with more than 3,200 hectares of land and valuable ecological and scenic conditions. In 2010, the winery was awarded "Vinos de Pago", the highest level of quality that a Spanish winery can achieve.
