Most wine lovers know Rioja for its reds — the Tempranillo-driven Crianzas and Reservas that made the region famous. Fewer know that the northernmost corner of DOCa Rioja, sheltered by the Obarenes Mountains and surrounded by four small villages with centuries of vine-growing tradition, produces white wines of genuine freshness, precision and character. Bodegas Tarón is rooted in that tradition: over 700 hectares of vineyards with an average vine age of more than 50 years, producing wines that carry the depth and concentration that only old roots in mountain-influenced soils can give. The Taron Blanco blends Viura — Rioja's classic white variety — with Tempranillo Blanco, an indigenous mutation that brings floral complexity and stone fruit character to the blend, creating a young white of lively acidity, good volume and the kind of easy, honest generosity that makes it as welcome at the table as it is in the glass.
