Terra Remota — remote land — is exactly what its name promises. Founded in 1999 when the Bournazeau Florensa family acquired 40 hectares in the Alt Empordà region of Girona, in the northeastern corner of the Iberian Peninsula, the estate was built from the beginning with a philosophy as clear as it is demanding: complete integration with the natural landscape, absolute respect for the territory and an organic commitment formalised in September 2012 that governs every decision made in vineyard and cellar without exception. The Usted is their most ambitious and most personal expression — a limited edition organic blend of Garnacha and Syrah vinified with a level of individual attention that the word artisanal barely captures: each parcel processed separately in small stainless steel tanks and 55-hectolitre wooden vats, malolactic fermentation and batch ageing carried out in wood, every step customised and non-replicable by design. The 2015, now carrying a full decade of bottle development, presents a wine of extraordinary complexity — cherry in brandy, ripe black and red fruits, spices, truffle, cocoa and lead minerality on the nose — with the silky, melted tannins and long, salivating finish that only time, terroir and complete winemaking conviction produce together.

Winemaker's Notes

Deep garnet in the glass — rich, concentrated and carrying the colour of a wine that has spent a decade finding its perfect expression. On the nose, intense and fine: cherry in brandy and ripe black and red fruits opening first, followed by spices, truffle, cocoa and a thread of lead minerality that confirms the depth and complexity of organic Alt Empordà fruit given ten years to reveal itself completely. On the palate, full-bodied and elegant — silky, melted tannins with a long and salivating finish that carries every dimension of the wine's complexity all the way to a deeply satisfying and memorable conclusion. Best enjoyed with red meat, aged cheeses or a cigar. Serve between 14°C and 16°C.

Terra Remota was founded in 1999 by the Bournazeau Florensa family on 40 hectares in the Alt Empordà region of Girona — a winery born with a marked sensitivity towards the extraordinary natural landscape that surrounds it and a philosophy of complete territorial integration that has governed every decision made here since the first vintage. Organic certification obtained in September 2012 formalised what the family had always practiced: viticulture and vinification in harmony with nature, without synthetic chemicals, without shortcuts and without any compromise on the quality that this remote and beautiful corner of Catalonia is capable of producing.
