Casa da Urra sits at the heart of a 180-hectare estate near the hamlet of Urra, on the edge of Portalegre — the precise point in Alto Alentejo where the vast plains end and the São Mamede Hills begin, and where the elevation and cooler influence of the hills give white wines a freshness and precision that the hotter lowlands cannot match. The estate itself is a story: a house originally in ruin, rescued and completely renovated by a couple of doctors who are also lovers of art and culture — people who understood that this landscape deserved to be inhabited with intention. The white is a blend of three hand-picked native varieties — Arinto for acidity and structure, Antão Vaz for weight and warmth, Verdelho for aromatic lift and salinity — fermented in stainless steel with precise temperature control to preserve the natural character of each grape and the unique microclimate of an estate that sits between two worlds.
