90% Sémillon from the most prestigious commune of Monbazillac — 18 months in French oak, seven generations of the same family since 1820. Honey, candied fruits and a hint of acidity that keeps everything elegant. Southwest France at its most quietly magnificent.

Wine Profle Review

Elaboration

Château Bélingard sits on clay-limestone hillsides in the most prestigious commune of the Monbazillac appellation, on the Left Bank of the Dordogne River — a vineyard that seven generations of the same family have worked since 1820, currently in the hands of Laurent and Sylvie who are modernising the techniques while honouring everything the terroir and the heritage have always given them. The Cuvée 2017 is 90% Sémillon with 5% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle, aged for 18 months in French oak — producing a full nose of honey and candied fruits, an ample palate and the precise hint of acidity that gives this wine its signature compromise between elegance and finesse.

Winemaker's Notes

Golden and warm in the glass — the colour of 18 months of French oak and 200 years of family winemaking on Monbazillac's finest hillsides. On the nose, full and generous — honey and candied fruits with the depth and warmth of Sémillon at its most concentrated and complete. On the palate, ample but never heavy — a hint of acidity providing the lightness and elegance that keeps every sip feeling refined rather than rich. A long and satisfying finish. Best enjoyed with foie gras, white meats and blue cheeses. Serve between 7 and 8°C.

About the Winery

Château Bélingard has been in the same family since 1820 — seven generations working the clay-limestone hillsides of Monbazillac's most prestigious commune on the Left Bank of the Dordogne with a dedication to terroir and quality that Laurent and Sylvie are continuing with modern technique and complete family conviction. At Dis&Dis, Château Bélingard is the discovery that the finest sweet and rich white wines of Southwest France are not always found in the most famous appellations — sometimes they are found in the hillside estates where the same family has been quietly getting it right for two centuries.
