Elaboration
Château Léoville Barton 2013 is a 2nd Grand Cru Classé from the prestigious A.O.C Saint-Julien — one of Bordeaux's most celebrated appellations, renowned for producing wines of exceptional finesse and longevity. Crafted from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot, the grapes were hand-harvested between October 2nd and 14th, 2013, ensuring optimal ripeness. Vinification took place in temperature-controlled wooden vats with twice-daily pump-overs during the 7-10 day fermentation, followed by approximately 3 weeks of maceration to develop depth and complexity. The wine was then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, adding layers of refinement and structure. Rated 90 points by Robert Parker, this is a wine of quiet authority and remarkable aging potential — a genuine piece of Bordeaux history.
Winemaker's Notes
Deep, intense red. On the nose, an elegant and complex bouquet of oak, forest floor, cassis and black cherries gradually unfolds with aeration. On the palate, firm and compact with distinctive chalky tannins that speak eloquently of Saint-Julien's gravel terroir. Light in frame but exceptional in elegance — a refined and beautifully formed Grand Cru Classé that rewards patience. Best enjoyed with red meats, lamb, duck, game or rare grilled beef. Serve at 16°C.
