Elaboration

Albariño is one of the world's great white grape varieties — and the Salnés Valley, where granite soils meet Atlantic winds and the vines grow heavy with the moisture of Galicia's famously generous rainfall, is where it finds its truest expression. Lagar Da Condesa is a stone cellar built in the style of the traditional Galician pazos — an architectural statement of rootedness and respect for what this landscape has always produced — and the home of a winemaking approach that understands exactly what Albariño becomes when given the structure and patience it deserves. The 2020 is made exclusively from Albariño grapes grown on sandy granite soils in the heart of the Salnés Valley, partially fermented in 500 and 600-litre barrels and left on its lees for approximately four months — a process that builds the rich volume, broad density and concentrated mineral complexity that separate this wine from the category's more straightforward expressions. Behind the cellar stands Viñas Familia Gil — a winemaking family with more than a century of experience and a conviction, passed through generations, that great wine is made in the vineyard, refined in the cellar, and expressed completely in the glass.

Winemaker's Notes

Pale gold in the glass — a colour of genuine warmth and depth that signals immediately the partial barrel fermentation and lees aging behind it. On the nose, apples and pears open with natural freshness and varietal precision, followed by exceptional fruity notes and a pleasant, concentrated touch of mineral honey that adds complexity and a quietly compelling richness to the aromatic portrait. On the palate, the wine delivers with full confidence: rich, acidic, broad and dense in volume — a structured and complete expression of Albariño from one of its most celebrated addresses, with the granite soils of the Salnés Valley running through every dimension of the wine's character. A finish of real length and mineral satisfaction. Best enjoyed with fish, shellfish, white meat, vegetables, rice and salads. Serve between 8 and 10°C.
