Rectoral do Umia was founded with a philosophy that is as clear as the wines it produces: make Albariño that transfers the typicity of the Salnés Valley's terroir and microclimate to the bottle without modifying its own identity. For over a decade, from their base in the heart of the Salnés Valley — Rías Baixas's most celebrated sub-zone for Albariño — the winery has applied that philosophy with the consistency and precision that more than 20 international gold medals confirm. Porta da Ría 2020 is the expression of that conviction at its most complete and accessible: 100% Albariño from the Salnés Valley, macerated and fermented at 18°C with chosen yeasts for 15 days, then aged for nine months on its own fine lees with bâtonnage — a process that builds the structure, body and aromatic integration that separate this wine from a simpler, younger Albariño expression. Golden yellow with greenish flashes, clean and vibrant in colour, with a strong nose of wonderfully integrated fruit and floral notes accentuating apple and stone fruits, and a palate where the usual freshness of Albariño stands out with a highly calibrated acidity in perfect balance with the wine's structure and body. The Salnés Valley in a glass, without modification, without compromise.
