Elaboration

A.S Boires 2017 is a Spanish red wine from Penedes, in the Catalonia region.

This wine is special because the winery has taken care of the whole process in order to obtain the best wine. The grapes, Samso, Tempranillo and Black Grenache have been handpicked from vines that are 50 years old and then brought to the winery to do a second selection, so only the best grapes are preserved.

Then, the wine has fermented in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 28ºC. Afterwards, in order for the wine to take the wood aromas, the wine has aged for 8 months in Allier French oak barrels. Finally, the wine has spent 8 to 12 months in the bottle before launching it to the market.

The wine followed this thorough process because the winemaker wanted to achieve a concentrated wine that reflected the terroir of the Penedès region.

As a result, Boires, which means fog in catalan, is a wine that embodies the Mediterranean terroir's identity.

Taster's notes

A.S Boires 2017 is a Spanish red wine with a cherry colour of high intensity and with edges of an intense purple.

When smelling the wine, you will appreciate the aromas of ripe berries, braided with notes of vanilla, spices, and balsamic conferred by the maturation in the barrel. These aromas are typical of a Tempranillo, Black Grenache and Samso blend that has aged in French oak barrels.

On the palate, it is well balanced, thus resulting in a very nice wine to drink. For wine pairing, we recommend pairing it with a variety of meats, sausages, and semi-cooked cheeses. It's also great for a barbecue or as a tapas wine. The ideal serving temperature is between 14 and 16ºC, in order to appreciate its full potential.

The Winery

In 1982, Alsina & Sardà produced the first bottles of Cavas in the small family cellar in Ca l’Avi (Subirats). In a short period of time, the production increased significantly and they moved to a bigger winery, Les Tarumbes, in El Pla del Penedes, Catalonia. Since then, they have focused on keeping the balance of the ecosystem and developing sustainable vine-growing practices. All of their wines are a representation of their know-how and passion for the terroir.
