Juan Pablo Vizcarra finished his enology studies, inherited his father's old vines, and made his first wines in a garage. It is one of the wine world's most honest origin stories — and one of its most instructive, because what followed was not luck but the systematic application of a perfectionist's conviction to 50 hectares of Tempranillo in the heart of Ribera del Duero. In 2007, Bodegas Vizcarra inaugurated new facilities built around a single winemaking principle: gravity. No pumps at any stage of vinification or ageing — every movement of wine through the cellar driven by natural force alone, preserving the fruit integrity, textural finesse and elegant concentration that mechanical intervention always risks diminishing.
