Elaboration

Ribeira Sacra is not a place where wine is made easily. The vineyards of Adegas Moure cling to slopes so steep that mechanical harvesting is not simply impractical — it is impossible. Every grape is picked by hand, every row navigated on foot, in the tradition of what viticulture calls heroic farming: the cultivation of vines in conditions so extreme that only the most committed producers continue to do it. Adegas Moure has been doing exactly that since 1958, guided by the founding conviction that the authenticity and typicity of their raw material — Albariño, Godello, Treixadura and Torrontés grown organically at 500 metres above the Miño River — must be preserved in every bottle, whatever the cost. The result is a wine of genuine expressive power: tropical fruit, stone fruit and white flowers on the nose, excellent structure and intensity on the palate, and the kind of clarity and finesse that 91 points in the Peñin Guide only goes to wines that genuinely deserve it.

Winemaker's Notes

Bright yellow with a greenish sheen — the colour of Atlantic Galicia and high-altitude organic viticulture. On the nose, expressive and generous: tropical fruit and stone fruit with white flowers woven through, the altitude giving everything a precision and lift that lower vineyards cannot replicate. On the palate, extremely expressive, clear and fine — well structured, with good acidity and the remarkable intensity that 500 metres of elevation and heroic farming always deliver to wines made with this level of commitment. Best enjoyed with blue fish, molluscs, shellfish, rice, roasted vegetables, white meat and cheese. Serve between 9°C and 12°C.

Adegas Moure has been farming the steep slopes of Ribeira Sacra since 1958 — a family winery in one of Galicia's most dramatic and mystical wine regions, where the vineyards overlook the Miño River from heights that make every harvest an act of genuine dedication. Mechanical harvesting has never been an option here, and Adegas Moure has never wanted it to be. Hand-picking every grape, farming organically, protecting the environment and preserving the authenticity of a terroir full of history, legend and breathtaking beauty — this is not a marketing position.
