The magnum format is one of winemaking's most elegant technical decisions — and for the Maria Rigol Ordi winery, it is not a luxury presentation but the entire point. Ageing in a 1.5 litre bottle lowers the proportion of oxygen relative to the quantity of wine, slowing oxygenation and producing a more uniform, more stable and more completely developed Cava than any standard bottle can achieve. The cork adds a further dimension of micro-oxygenation that builds the creamy, velvety texture and the silky, elegant bubbles that make this wine — organic Xarel·lo, Parellada and Macabeo from the 2016 vintage — one of the most technically considered and most genuinely distinctive expressions of the Reserva Brut category in the Dis&Dis collection. Maria Rigol Ordi began making Cava in the early 1980s, missing the family Cavas that had shaped her life, alongside her son Francesc Manobens Rigol — carrying forward a sparkling wine heritage that her grandfather Modest Rigol Tubella had begun in 1897. Nine years of magnum patience honour that heritage completely.
