Elaboration

This wine is the second label of Château Tour Haut-Caussan, a wonderful winery run by Fabien and Véronique Courrian, a brother and sister team. Their family has been passionate about winemaking for generations, with roots in Blaignan-Medocan dating back to 1634. The vineyard itself was acquired by the family in 1877, making Fabien and Véronique the proud fourth generation of winemakers.

They take a traditional approach to viticulture and winemaking, prioritizing sustainable practices. Unlike their neighbors, they use only natural compost made from grape stalks and cuttings, giving their vineyard a vibrant green appearance. While mechanical harvesting is common in the Medoc region, Fabien and Véronique believe in the artistry of hand-picking. They also choose not to filter their wines, allowing the true essence of the grapes to shine.

This exceptional wine is crafted with care, using 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot grapes, all hand-picked and aged in oak barrels. The result is a wine that embodies their family's dedication and love for winemaking.

Taster's notes

On the nose, this 2016 has a fairly intense nose with notes of black and red fruits and very nice floral notes in the background. On the palate, it is very pleasant, more round than powerful. It is a well-balanced wine that can wait for 2/3 years to reach good maturity but that can be enjoyed now. We recommend pairing it with red meat. We suggest a serving temperature of between 16ºC and 18º

The Winery

Château La Landotte, with 3 hectares of vines, located on the Potensac plateau, is taken care of by the team of Château Tour Haut-Caussan since 1987, with the same application and seriousness. Véronique Courrian and Fabien Courrian are the fourth generation to look after the destiny of the vineyard and the winery.

They maintain a very traditional approach to viticulture and winemaking, using no chemicals, only compost that they make themselves from grape stalks and cuttings, a fact that is evident in the greenery of their vineyard compared to their neighbours. While in Medoc mechanical harvesting is common, they believe in manual harvesting. They also do not use any form of filtration.
