This is the second wine of Château Tour Haut-Caussan Cru Bourgeois run by brother and sister Fabien & Véronique Courrian, the family acquired the vineyard in 1877 and they are the 4th generation of winemakers, though the family has been living in Blaignan-Medoccan since 1634. Their father Phillipe has moved his wine-making passion to Château Cascadais in Corbieres.
They maintain a very traditional approach to viticulture and winemaking, using no chemicals, only compost which they make themselves from grape stalks and cuttings, a fact noticeable by the greenness of their vineyard against their neighbors. While in the Medoc mechanical harvesting is common, they believe in hand-picking. They also use no form of filtration. This great wine is made of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot picked by hand, and aged in barriques.
