Elaboration

HDL Aragonez Tinto Organic 2020 is produced by Herdade dos Lagos from certified organic Aragonez vines grown on the estate's remarkable 1,000 hectares in the Alentejo D.O.C. — one of Portugal's most celebrated and ancient wine territories. Yield is strictly controlled through cutting and consistent thinning, and every grape is harvested by hand during the cool morning hours to preserve natural freshness and aromatic integrity. Fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks before 8 months of aging in stainless steel, followed by a brief passage in French oak that adds the gentlest structural refinement without masking the wine's pure, organic terroir character. Natural cold stabilisation before bottling preserves the wine's inherent freshness and mineral vitality to the very last drop.

Winemaker's Notes

Dark purple with luminous ruby red reflections. On the nose, distinctive and evocative with fresh forest herbs, eucalyptus and green tobacco leaves — an aromatic portrait unlike almost anything else in the Dis&Dis collection. On the palate, ripe black cherries and soft, ripe tannins with good structure and length, underlined by juicy red berry aromas and a delicate, mineral finish that speaks directly of the organic Alentejo terroir. A wine of genuine character and rare aromatic identity. Best enjoyed with pasta, white meat and blue fish. Serve at 16°C.

About the Winery

Forty years ago, the Zeppenfeld Kreikenbaum family arrived in the Vale de Camelos — the Valley of the Camels — in the heart of Alentejo, and fell completely in love with the Portuguese landscape. They never left. What began as a passion became a commitment, and that commitment now stretches across 1,000 hectares of entirely certified organic vineyards — one of the largest organic wine estates in Portugal. Herdade dos Lagos is the expression of a family that chose to honour this ancient land on its own terms, producing wines of genuine purity and integrity that reflect both their German precision and their deep, adopted love for Portugal.
