Pago de Larrainzar Especial Reserva 2014 Red Wine

Elaboration

Pago de Larrainzar Reserva Especial 2014 is a Spanish red wine from Pago de Larrainzar. This wine is a tribute to Pago Larrainzar's lovely estate and the family. This is a truly unusual and one-of-a-kind property. The Larrainzar family purchased it from the monks of the nearby Monastery of Irache. It's also where their family has lived for over 160 years. It boasts lovely gardens with centenary pines, fountains, and ponds, all surrounded by boxwood and flowers, adding to the house's appeal. As a result, they wanted the labels to reflect that unique environment by capturing the beauty of French-style gardens. This is the winery's original brand, and it best exemplifies its style, which is always elegant and beautiful. It's a carefully produced wine with a small production run, and the winery only produces it when the vintage is exceptional.

Taster's notes

Pago de Larrainzar Reserva Especial 2014 is a Spanish red wine with a vivid cherry red color that is quite appealing. On the nose, it is very powerful with pleasant notes. All of the components are well-balanced, with traces of black plum, berries, cedar, burnt wood, scrubland, and dry hay. With each turn of the glass, a new aroma appears. It has the winery's hallmark richness and grace on the palate. It fills the palate but is not a heavy wine. It is tasty, fresh, and without edges. It has a lasting taste and is very highly polished towards the end. Its high acidity stands out, ensuring a lengthy and enjoyable bottle life. We recommend pairing this unique wine with stews, red meat, game dishes, lamb, sausages, cheeses, and fish. It is best served at a temperature of 15ºC.  We recommend decanting the wine 30 minutes before consumption.

The Winery

Bodegas Pago de Larrainzar is the result of a personal dream of Miguel Canalejo Larrainzar, a well-known businessman from Pamplona, who loves his land deeply and has always been linked to the world of wine since his childhood.

The Larrainzar family has owned, for 150 years now, an extraordinary estate in Ayegui, adjacent to the Monastery of Irache, at the foot of Montejurra. On this property, Luis Larrainzar, great-grandfather of the founder of Bodegas Pago de Larrainzar, established a vineyard of Tempranillo grapes, and a small winery founded in 1891, with a limited production, which won the gold medal in the wine competition on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition in Barcelona in 1929.
