Valtuille de Abajo is a small village in the heart of Bierzo — and it is where Dimas García Canedo founded Vinos Valtuille in 1999, building a family winery around three values that are as clear as the wines they produce: effort, respect for the land and care for everything the land gives back. Two of his children, Elena and Marcos, have since joined the project — making Vinos Valtuille a genuine multi-generational family endeavour rooted in the conviction that great wine comes from representing the terroir with complete honesty. The Pago de Valdoneje Godello 2020 is made from native Godello plants that have been growing in Bierzo for centuries, adapted perfectly to the specific microclimate and soil conditions of Valtuille de Abajo in a way that only long-established native varieties can achieve. Aged in stainless steel on the lees for two months — a restrained process that adds subtle depth without interfering with the variety's natural freshness and mineral precision — the wine arrives with a light yellow colour and metallic reflections, balsamic notes and fennel on the nose, and a palate that is very tasty and clean, with citric acidity, mineral notes and white and wild flowers in complete and natural balance. Effort, respect and care — in the glass, exactly as promised.
