The wine begins with a family story: Mauro Pérez, a hard-working man of innate intelligence, spent his life tending vineyards in Pedrosa de Duero in Burgos, passing on to his children a deep respect for the land and a conviction that a job done properly is always worth the effort. Those vineyards are the foundation of the current winery — and the Crianza is their most honest and direct expression. Aged for 18 months in a combination of American and French oak barrels, Viña Pedrosa Crianza 2018 is the fruit of that passion and patience in its most complete and emblematic form.

Winemaker's Notes

Intense cherry red with purple edges — vivid, expressive and immediately communicating the quality and concentration of Ribera del Duero Tempranillo from vineyards tended with genuine love and respect. On the nose, suggestive and very expressive: aromas of berries stand out with freshness and clarity, joined by a delicate and beautifully integrated aging bouquet of vanilla, balsamic, coffee, toffee and India ink — the unmistakable signature of 18 months in American and French oak working in complete harmony with the fruit. On the palate, wide and generous with nerve and succulent tannins that carry the wine's considerable presence with elegance and precision. The aftertaste is very persistent and broad — a long, satisfying conclusion that confirms the 93 Peñín, 92 Parker and 91 Atkin scores without hesitation. A Crianza of genuine authority and exceptional everyday quality. Best enjoyed with baked lamb, tapas, sausages, soft cheeses and pasta. Serve at 16°C.

About the Winery

The story of Viña Pedrosa begins with one man and one piece of land. Mauro Pérez spent his life working the vineyards of Pedrosa de Duero in Burgos — tending them with the hard work, innate intelligence and deep respect for the land that he would pass on to his children as the most valuable inheritance a winemaking family can receive. Those vineyards, cared for across generations with the same conviction and the same love, are the foundation of the winery that bears his land's name. Viña Pedrosa is not a winery built on investment or ambition in the conventional sense — it is a winery built on the belief that if you tend your land properly, the wine will tell the truth about it.
