Veuve Clicquot is one of the most iconic and revered champagne brands. Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot, Veuve Clicquot has a long history that is intertwined with the family’s legacy.
The company was passed on to Phillippe’s widow, Barbe-Nicole, who took control of the winery after her husband died and earned her the nickname ‘The Widow Clicquot’ or ‘La veuve’ in French.
Under Barbe-Nicole's leadership, Veuve Clicquot became a world-renowned champagne brand and she was responsible for inventing many innovative techniques that are still used today.
She also revolutionized the process of remuage (riddling) which helped to improve clarity and consistency in sparkling wines. Her legendary accomplishments and pioneering spirit remain an inspiration to this day.
