Ribera del Duero

Driven by a passion for fine wines and applying over eighteen years of winemaking experience, Loess began a new adventure in 2001, where quality will always be the focus.

Loess started the project directly from the terroir, purchasing six selected vineyards in Roa, Burgos.

These vineyards are planted in soils classified as "Excellent" in the zonal plan drawn up by the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) for the Regulatory Council of the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin (Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen Ribera del Duero).

In 2004, after obtaining high quality grapes, Loess started making red wines. Encouraged by their quality, the winery decided to expand our project to include white wines with the Rueda designation of origin.

Loess is a brand of high quality wines from the Ribera del Duero and Rueda designations of origin, made from grapes grown in our own vineyards. Unique, special wines like Ribera del Duero are not made by chance.

They are the result of a particularly demanding soil and climate and the rigorous and patient efforts of the vine-growers and winemakers. No hurry, no shortcuts.

Loess winery's six vineyards in Roa, Burgos are planted on harsh terrain with a severe climate, conditions typical of high altitudes. It is these harsh conditions that give the wine its uniqueness, for paradoxically, in the world of wine, the harsher the environmental conditions, the more distinctive the grapes.

In Burgos, the fields are worked with passion and responsibility for the environment. Low and extremely pampered yields are intentionally obtained so that the final product is then unique, exceptional and as they like to describe it:
A wine with soul, a wine that conveys, created to move.
