Château Mont Redon

Château Mont-Redon is a French winery located in the Northwestern of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. This estate is very special because it possesses three emblematic terroirs of the appellation: mainly the pebbles of the plateau, then the safres (compact sand) and the urgonian limestones. The three terroirs have a clear impact on the quality of Château Mont-Redon wines.
The story of the winery started when Henri Plantin (1890 - 1966) acquired the estate in 1923, before the creation of the famous appellation Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 1936. Henri Plantin was a visionary, and he saw the potential of the plots of land around the estate overlooking Mont-Redon. He exploited the land and planted vines that now produce excellent grapes.
The company´s long term vision has allowed them to produce excellent wines. They have oriented their winemaking practices towards protecting the environment.
Farming practices at Château Mont-Redon are focused on keeping our environment in good shape for a long time. That means that they take rest days between planting cycles, use old fashioned farming methods instead of machines, purify their wastewater using reed beds, and plant native species to the Provence area. All this hard work has paid off: In 2018, Château Mont-Redon earned the High Environmental Value level 3 certification for its efforts to preserve the environment!
