Bodega Sierra Norte
D.O. Utiel - Requena
Spain
It all started in the village of Camporrobles, with just 8,000 square metres of land, where Miguel and Lorenzo planted their first vineyard with the Bobal variety.
Planting vines at that time and in that place was not an easy decision because in 1914, all the fields around the village were planted with cereals.
What made them decide to plant vines? We don't know exactly, but we do know that they were visionaries. What seemed like a strange idea to everyone turned out to be an inspired one, later followed by many people in the region.
We like to look back over the years to appreciate how far we've come. It gives us a sense of appreciation for past generations of the family, for their effort, hard work and courage.
From then until now at the heart of their concerns has been respect for the land, the vines, organic farming and a belief in native varieties. This is the attitude with which they have lived, live and look to the future.
Today, the Requena winery has state-of-the-art bottling equipment, a well-equipped research department and a dedicated technical team.
They also have cellars that can store 1,100 barrels of French and American oak. From this core in Requena, the wines produced in the three cellars, Camporrobles, La Roda and Jumilla are delivered and distributed all over the world.
