Marques de Grinon MDG Emeritus 2013 Red Wine

300,00 lei

Elaboration

Marques de Griñon MDG Emeritus 2013 is a Spanish red wine from Dominio de Valdepusa. Carlos Falcó, Michel Rolland, and Julio Mourelle built the first Emeritus in 1997, and it hit the market at the end of 2000. This wine is currently created from grapes of the old Valdepusa vineyards: Cabernet Sauvignon (planted in 1974) and Petit Verdot (1992), with modest amounts of Syrah (1991) and Graciano (2000). The large, nuanced, and warm profile of this magnificent red is defined by the nature of the Toledo terroir — the Malpica grapes are in the area with the most sunlight on the peninsula.

Taster's notes

Marques de Griñon MDG Emeritus 2013 has a cherry colour with violet reflections. High layer intensity and a pleasing appearance. On the nose, it is a wonderful blend of the three varietals, with the addition of their age. It has high aromatic strength and complexity, with precise black and red fruit scents that blend perfectly with notes of chocolate and spices (tertiary smells), owing to its age in the finest oak barrels. It is very tempting in the mouth, clean, round, elegant, and with a beautiful tasting force. Tannins that are well-balanced have simply enhanced this wonderful experience. Finish in the mouth, where the fruit takes centre stage once more, with cherry and wild fruits dominating. Long and with a tenacity to spare. We recommend matching the wine with a variety of meat meals. We recommend a service temperature of 16ºC.

The Winery

This property was granted the first Denominación de Origen de pago by the Spanish State in 2002. In 2003, this recognition was validated by the European Union, making Dominio Valdepusa the first Spanish estate to receive this recognition, which had only previously been obtained by legendary estates such as "Domaine de la Romanée Conti" (Burgundy) or "Sassicaia" (Tuscany). Its current production of 300,000 bottles, advised by the prestigious Bordeaux oenologist Michel Rolland, focuses exclusively on red wines made from the estate's own vineyards.
