Elaboration

Red wine from the denomination of origin Alentejo made of 100% Touriga Nacional grapes. The grapes were sorted manually, destemmed and underwent pre-fermentation maceration. Fermentation itself was carried out in “Lagares” and stainless steel vats with temperature control. After undergoing malolactic fermentation, the wine spent 12 months in new French oak barrels and one-year-old French and American oak barrels. Once bottled, the wine was then aged for a further 16 months in the cellar. In order to maintain its unique characteristics, this wine has not been stabilised and may create sediments naturally.

Winemaker's Notes

Clear, deep violet red wine. On the nose, it presents aromas of redcurrant, blackberry, fig, chocolate, pepper and also floral notes of violets. On the palate, it is complex, full-bodied and fresh, with some hints of toast from barrel ageing, rich tannins and long finish. This wine has excellent potential for storage and ageing, as it can be stored for the next 20 to 30 years. We recommend pairing the wine with grilled red meat and beef. We suggest a serving temperature of between 16ºC and 18ºC

About the Winery

Herdade Das Servas is a winery, with more than 200 years of history, located in the Alentejo region, in Portugal. In 1811 João Martins Frade started producing wine, but it wasn´t until 1940 when the grandchildren of the founder started bottling wines. In 1998, the 7th generation of the family officially founded Herrdade das Servas, a winery with more than 350 hectares, committed to creating excellent wines with the utmost respect for the environment.
